George W. Johanning
George W. Johanning was born in 1869. He was apprenticed at the Union
Furniture factory at age 15. He worked three years as a cabinet maker
apprentice. At age 18 he was given a clerkship in the office and became a
stockholder when his father purchased shares for him. Eventually he reached
he reached the position of secretary-treasurer until his sudden death in
May, 1928. Johanning had also served as secretary of the Citizens' Savings
and Loan Association, and as director of the Batesville State Bank.
